Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has reiterated India's commitment to enhancing its international sports performance by setting a goal of boosting India's medal count at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
Addressing a Bharati channel program, Anurag Thakur affirmed our intent to elevate our medal count in the Paris Olympics 2024 while also confirming our preparedness to host the 2030 Youth Olympics and the 2036 Summer Olympics in India.
Previously, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had conveyed India's aspiration to host the 2036 Olympics during the IOC session held in Mumbai last year.
It's noteworthy to mention that cricket is slated to be included in the 2028 Olympics set to take place in Los Angeles.
Reports indicate that the cricket competition will adopt a 20-over format, although previous speculations hinted at the possibility of considering a T10 format for the Olympics.
In 2023, International Cricket Council chairman Greg Barclay affirmed that the International Olympic Committee had granted approval for cricket's inclusion in the Los Angeles event.
