Karachi Unveils Massive Tax Fraud: Tea Imports for Azad Kashmir Diverted,
Exposing a Scandal of 1.06 Billion Rupees.
Customs officials say that there is a 6 percent tax on the import of tea, while Azad Kashmir is exempt from this tax.
As per Customs officials, the tax-free tea sales were resulting in billions of rupees in losses for the national treasury.
Customs intelligence officials report the recovery of 14 tons of tea containers from the warehouse, with an additional seizure of 530 tons during the search. Importers have allegedly sold 3,000 tons of black tea in Karachi through tax fraud, according to authorities.
