Mirpur Khas, October 27, 2025 — In a shocking development, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mehran Police Station in Mirpur Khas district, Sindh — identified as Khadim Talpur — has been suspended and a First Information Report (FIR) registered after a 24-year-old woman from Punjab alleged she was raped while visiting the station to seek help.
What Happened
According to the complaint, the complainant visited the Mehran Police Station seeking assistance in recovering her minor daughter from her ex-husband in Umerkot.
She alleges that during the visit, the SHO lured her to an unknown location with false assurances of help, where the alleged assault occurred. She was later returned to the station by an unidentified driver.
An FIR numbered 29/25 has been registered at the Women Police Station under sections including 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The district’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Sumeer Noor Channa ordered the SHO’s suspension and formed an inquiry committee, while medical and forensic samples have been collected.

Police authorities say they are awaiting final forensic results, including DNA testing of the accused, the complainant and the clothes recovered, before proceeding with further criminal action.Broader Implications
The case has ignited serious concerns about the safety of women seeking help from police stations and the accountability mechanisms for officers accused of crimes.
