In a landmark move for Pakistan’s technology sector, Google has announced plans to open its first official office in Pakistan, marking a major step toward strengthening the country’s digital economy and innovation ecosystem.
According to government officials, the decision follows months of discussions between Google representatives and the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication, focusing on fostering local partnerships, supporting startups, and expanding digital skills training across the country.
The new office will serve as a regional hub for digital transformation, offering resources and support to entrepreneurs, developers, and content creators. IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja hailed the move as a “historic moment” for Pakistan’s digital growth. “Google’s physical presence will create thousands of opportunities for young professionals and startups while promoting innovation and foreign investment in the tech ecosystem,” she said.
The establishment of Google’s office aligns with Pakistan’s Digital Pakistan Vision, aimed at developing local talent and integrating the nation more deeply into the global digital economy.
