"Internet Users in Pakistan Face Grim Developments"

Pakistanis relying on the internet are facing a setback as the fiber optic cable linking Singapore to Pakistan and Europe has been severed.

Reports indicate that the submarine cables connecting South East Asia, the Middle East, and Europe have been damaged near Indonesia, with five cuts in the optical fiber. Repairs are estimated to take up to a month.
Internet service from the east direction is experiencing disruptions, compounded by PTCL and Transworld traffic being affected by an optical fiber cut in the same direction. Pakistani users are encountering significant challenges in browsing the internet, particularly during evening hours.
According to PTCL sources, although the traffic from the eastern direction constitutes less than 10 percent, measures have been taken to divert it to alternative sources.
