Health Minister Ezra Pechuho Launches Typhoid Vaccination Campaign in Karachi and Hyderabad.
The Typhoid Vaccination Drive, spanning 7 districts in Karachi and 1 district in Hyderabad, is set to run until May 25, as announced by Ezra Pechuho. Parents are urged to ensure their children receive the vaccination.
Project Director EPI Sindh, Dr. Naeem, highlighted that the vaccine targets children aged 9 months to 15 years, with 7 thousand volunteers actively engaging in the campaign.
Dr. Naeem emphasized that typhoid vaccinations will be administered in schools through 31-way services, aiming to vaccinate 8.9 million children as a preventive measure.
The Sindh Health Minister underscored the rapid spread of diseases, emphasizing the crucial role of prevention. He noted that contaminated water and food are major factors contributing to the transmission of typhoid.
He stated that typhoid is treatable, advocating for boiling water as a preventive measure. Ezra Pechuho noted the ineffectiveness of older vaccines and antibiotics in preventing typhoid, highlighting the efficacy of the new vaccine.
Furthermore, Ezra Pechuho stressed the importance of parents ensuring their children receive the typhoid vaccination, mentioning potential consequences for non-compliance.
