"Main Asian Nation Tops Global Heatwave-Related Death Toll"
As per reports from foreign media, the recent research findings from Monash University in Australia have surfaced, unveiling a staggering truth: approximately 153,000 individuals succumb to heatwaves annually across the globe.
The study, spanning three decades from 1990 onwards, scrutinized data and revealed that India bears the brunt of heatwave fatalities, claiming the top spot with a significant 20 percent share of the total.
The report indicated that following India, China documented 14% of heatwave-related fatalities, with Russia following at 8%.
Researchers from Monash University estimate that approximately half of the 1.53 million heatwave-related deaths occur in Asia, with over 30% attributed to Europe.
In Asia alone, researchers suggest that around 75,000 deaths are linked to heatwaves, while Europe accounts for approximately 45,000 fatalities.
