Former national team director and captain Muhammad Hafeez suggested that Babar Azam bat at number 3 in the T20 World Cup
Mohammad Hafeez stated that while Babar and Rizwan are performing brilliantly in T20s, they alone do not and cannot make a complete team.
He emphasized the need to prepare the remaining five players so that they can deliver results for Pakistan.
Mohammad Hafeez asserts that even in T20s, Babar will face no confusion or difficulty batting at number three; instead, he can significantly enhance his performance. The former captain emphasized that Babar can adeptly manage the pressure that follows an early dismissal. However, it's been observed that his performance further elevates when he's positioned at number three.
Muhammad Hafeez highlighted the importance of having a player with a good strike rate alongside Rizwan. He noted that Fakhar Zaman has been performing well at number four, but emphasized the necessity of adding a power hitter or Saim Ayub to complement Rizwan's style. Hafeez expressed concern that while Saim Ayub has been given opportunities, he hasn't been able to perform up to expectations. He stressed that now, it's crucial for the management to focus on developing the bench strength.
